Hello Group,
I am ready to get us organized and making some art! Please see the attached document for the vitals on your fellow group members.
As you know if you read the general update I just sent to everyone, we have an issue with an odd number of people in the group.
The other issue we have is that half the group lives in Atlanta, and the other half in Jacksonville Florida. I did this on purpose, however, because I will personally bear the burden of making sure work gets to and from Jacksonville so that nobody else has to drive so far. Using Jack's system for exchanges within odd numbered groups, however, I should only have to drive to Atlanta once.
To reiterate the plan for our exchanges:
I have broken the group into two pods one with 4 people and one with 5 people. the two pods do a simple exchange (A gives to B, B gives to C, C gives to D...etc.) within their respective pods over the course of 24 weeks. then the pods exchange the work and start rotating the work again over the course of the next 24 weeks.
In the second 24 week period the pod with 5 people will only have 4 pieces of sculpture so one person in the pod will sit out after each exchange as the work moves around the group.
The pod with 4 people will be having to double up on their work as 4 people will be working on 5 pieces. (one time each, one person will receive two pieces at the exchange)
It works out well for us to do it this way. Allen, Katie, Marygrace, Jim, and LeeAnn will comprise the first group. Allen should give to Katie, Katie should give to Marygrace, Marygrace should give to Jim, Jim should give to LeeAnn, And LeeAnn should give to Allen, OR you can work out whatever suits you best.
In Jacksonville and Savannah, I will give to Matt, and will bring Matt's piece to Patrick, Patrick will give to Jenny, and Jenny will give to me.
We will be a little out of sync with each other over the long haul because of the discrepancy in numbers and due to the fact that we have nine people instead of eight. But, If the Atlanta folks can work quickly enough to get one extra exchange in over the next six months, we will be on track, otherwise, we will just take a bit longer to finish up at the end.
If we assume that there are six weeks between exchanges, and there are five people in the largest group, that means I will need to drive to Atlanta and swap all the work between groups somewhere around the middle of February (I think)
I will lay out the calendar more carefully as soon as I can.
I am open to any suggestions, theme ideas, or any other comments.
Otherwise, lets get to it.....First exchange August 20-26 or so.
------------Michael
